Jared Young grew up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, where he spent his teenage years working as an usher at the local movie theatre. His reviews, essays, and stories have appeared in places like McSweeney's, The Walrus, The Millions, and more. He is also the author of the novel Into The Current.
